A Guide to Choosing the Right Interior Blinds

There are blinds and there are blinds, and the average homeowner might be surprised to learn that there are many different types of interior blinds available today. Each with its own unique style, the modern range of blinds offer the homeowner a range of options for screening and shading, and if you are thinking of a revamp at home, here is a brief overview of the types of interior blinds you can expect to find.

Roller Blinds

These are typically made from durable fabric, and are simply pulled up or down to suit. Modern units are spring loaded and the mechanism allows you to stop the blind at any point. Ideal for bathrooms and kitchens, roller blinds come in an impressive range of colours and patterns, allowing you to blend with the current décor.

Vertical Blinds

Very popular, as they add a touch of elegance to a modern or contemporary setting, and vertical blinds are a lot easier to clean, as dust and grime do not collect on the slats as much as with horizontal designs. Bottom weights ensure smooth operation and because the units are made to measure, you can be sure of a perfect fit. One can adjust the vertical slats to allow visibility from the inside, yet you also have complete privacy, and this is often an advantage.

Timber Solutions

Wooden blinds are all the rage and if your home already has a rustic quality, timber is the perfect material for interior blinds. The timber is treated prior to constructing the blinds, and with a choice of grains and slat widths, you can create something truly unique. Wooden blinds do not cost as much as you might think, and with online suppliers, it is easy to browse at your leisure before placing an order.

Venetian Blinds

A firm favourite, probably due to the high level of control and the smooth transition from open to close, Venetian blinds can make a room look and feel majestic, and with a range of aluminium finishes, keeping the blinds clean simply involves a wipe with a damp cloth. The straight lines complement a modern look, and with a smooth running mechanism, adjustment is easy. Slightly opening the slats gives you a nice lighting level, while you can see outside without losing your privacy.

Roman Blinds

This fabric oriented style allows you to be very creative, with a range of soft or striking fabrics that can really change the ambience of any room. You can even buy the fabric by the metre to match with cushions or curtains, and that will make your living room the envy of your neighbours. Plain or bright colours go well with the modern look of glass and stainless steel, and with made to measure units, any window can be accommodated.

Adding blinds to the interior of your home will change the feel of the residence, and the added control over lighting and seclusion makes it a much preferred screening option to traditional curtains.
